ISSUE:  PEREGRINE FALCON HARVEST

48 permits for take of peregrine for falconry purposes over the last 3-4 years.

Action Migratory Bird Table: If the US develops an Environmental Assessment on harvest of peregrine falcons they will provide it to Canadian and Mexican counterparts for review and comment.  The US will report the status of the harvest to the tables at next years Trilateral.

ISSUE:  CALIFORNIA CONDOR REINTRODUCTION PROJECT

Action for both Tables: Continued endorsement of the ongoing condor reintroduction program.

ISSUE:  BURROWING OWL

Action for both Tables:  Continued endorsement of the ongoing collaborative survey and recovery effort.

ISSUE: PIPING PLOVER

Action for Shared Species:  Recommendation that Canada and Mexico review the U.S. National Oil Spill Response Plan by the end of July 2003.  Move toward table endorsement of the Plan.

ISSUE: WEST NILE VIRUS

Action for Shared Species Table: Recommend endorsement of Trilateral information network to facilitate reporting of West Nile Virus. Proposal due w/in 90 days.

Action for Migratory Bird Table: From US & Canada can provide advice and/or training for Mexican scientists on diagnostics, field sampling, and lab analysis.

ISSUE: LIGHT FOOTED CLAPPER RAIL

Action for Shared Species Table:  Continue the effort to find a Mexican counterpart to collaborate with. The project would eventually want access to the marshes in Mexico to gather genetic samples and potentially propagules to add to captive flock.

Action for Migratory Bird Table:  Project proposal will be given to Migratory Bird Table Co-chairs, by September, who will review for possible endorsement.
