Executive Working Table
The Executive Table plays a crucial role in shaping the direction and priorities of the Trilateral Committee, as well as ensuring effective coordination and decision-making among its members. Over the course of the Committee’s history, they also provided guidance to other working tables that have existed on an as-needed basis, including the following: Biodiversity Information; Wildlife Without Borders; Wetlands; Indigenous People & Natural Resource Management; Monarch Butterflies; and Sea Turtles. The Trilateral Committee has been subject to an evolutionary process that has produced the current tables’ format which incorporates many former topics as well as new ones.
The Executive Working Table provides overall guidance and oversight. - Overseeing and Directing Overall Administration: The Executive Table is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and ensuring that the Trilateral Committee functions smoothly. This includes hosting meetings, setting agendas, and ensuring that decisions made by the committee are implemented effectively.
- Setting Strategic Direction: The Executive Table plays a crucial role in defining the long-term goals and objectives of the Trilateral Committee. This involves identifying key priorities for the committee over a specified period (e.g., four years) and developing strategies to achieve them.
- Resolving Issues: As the highest decision-making body within the Trilateral Committee, the Executive Table is tasked with resolving any issues that may arise within the different working tables. This may involve facilitating discussions or making decisions when consensus cannot be reached.
- Reviewing and Responding to Recommendations: The Executive Table reviews recommendations put forward by the various working tables or other parties involved in the committee's activities. They assess the feasibility and potential impact of these recommendations and decide on the appropriate course of action.
- Serving as Head of Delegation: Members of the Executive Table typically serve as the official representatives of their respective countries within the Trilateral Committee. As such, they are responsible for representing their country's interests in wildlife and ecosystem conservation, and implementing reporting back to their respective governments on the committee's activities and decisions.
